Sorry for double post, but I guess so far I'm the only one who needs advice the most. Undecided

Anyways with the Christmas holidays coming up my family tends to do the whole Secret Santa deal, and I happen to have gotten my 10 year old cousin who owns a PS3.

He has just recently got it, and as far as I know the only game he has is Little Big Planet.

Basically I need suggestions for a really simple game that he can put many hours into and is not a shooter type game. Smiley

p.s. By simple I mean really easy AI and easy controls because he tends to give up on difficult games quite easily and never comes back to it unless I bring it up again.

Please and Thank You Grin

Dynasty Warriors 6 - If it's his first DW he'll love it, and he'll get educated in Chinese history to some extent.
Overlord: Raising Hell - Fun, and quite simple RPG, requiring you to bring the land under your rule.
LEGO Batman - It's actually pretty good, easy and fun.

Just a few I can think of right now, there will be more but thats all I can think of right now.

You know I might just go with Lego Batman, but if anyone has more suggestions that would be nice.

So is there any game so far almost like Dynasty Warriors? (Not SW)
Also, Since you can't swim, what about the people in patrol boats in DW 6 Special?

Well you could play Shining Force Neo for the PS2.  It's not anything like the DW games, but it is a button mashing, hack n slashing, great game.  It has the best story-line of all time.  Also you have allies that help you fight and you can switch back and forth between who you want to fight along your side.

Well I'll make an attempt to list a few.

Shooting type games:
-Halo 3
-Gears of War, 2
-Call of Duty: World at War
-Stranglehold(The sequel to the movie Hardboiled)
-Left 4 Dead
-50 Cent: Blood on The Sand Grin (Comes out in 2 days)
-Rainbow 6: Las Vegas, 2
-Resident Evil 5(comes out in a couple of weeks)
-Battlefield: Bad Company
-Armored Core 4, For Answers(If you like mech type shooters)

Warriors type games:
-Guilty Gear 2: Overture
-Dynasty Warrior: Gundam, (2nd one coming out in March)
-Ninja Gaiden 2(Story is a bit weird, but loads of action)
-Afro Samurai(?)
-Ninety Nine Nights

I can't say much more than that as I don't know what else may classify as a "Warriors Game" + I haven't played all these titles that I have mentioned, so I can't say if all of them are any good or not.

The only recommendations I have concerning exclusives are: the Gear of War games, Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead.

Multiplatforms: Call of Duty World at War, and Far Cry 2. Must haves.

As far as Warriors type games go; was there not a Kingdom Under Fire game for the 360 as well? THe original had a bit more strategy than Warriors from what I remember but seemed to get a decent reception, the 360 one ( if there is indeed one ) might be worth checking out.

EDIT: Merging this with the Game Purchase Advice thread.

Hey guys, I need a bit og help in deciding whether to get this. This'll be my first imported game and it'll just be in Japanese (so I won't understand!). The game is Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (also known as Yakuza 3), I've played the demo and it is fantastic. The only problem is the language barrier, the whole games in Japanese, but Sega are probably not going to release it in english, so I'm stuck deciding whether to buy.

Ah, I've been meaning to check the demo of that, looked pretty good.

Speaking as someone who threw themselves into the deep end when it comes to importing ( Japanese Final Fantasy XII was my first text heavy import ) I can say that it would be worth it. You will get better at comprehending written Japanese as you go along.

I suppose it depends how much you really value the story element of a game, in particular the nuances as opposed to overall themes, these may be harder to pick up.

But you seem to be well enough into anime and have a basic grasp of the written stuff, so I'd say give it a go.

It's rubbish they've removed the strategy and just turned it into a 1 vs everyone else game it's an adventure game now I'm not even going to pick it up for £10 which it did go to a few weeks back

Thanks for the summary S&S! My father is going to Japan March 16th so he'll probably pick it up Cheesy.

I assume that the other Warriors games are a bit too close if he's worried about the DW games becoming stale. Wink

Mike-Be: you can have a look above to see some 360 specific games in that like. THe question I would ask is does it necessarily have to be like DW in the sense of having a large scale battle with armies or are you open to action/slashers as a whole?

If you're interested in action games generally then Onimusha: Dawn Of Dreams is a cracker; great fun, interesting take on the Sengoku era and great soundtrack, well worth the 6 or so pounds I payed for it.
