I'm not liking Renbu at this point. I hope they keep the combo based movesets of SW1 and SW2.

You may want to elaborate on that or it is just considered spam. I didn't mind the renbu system it allowed for long chains and was a different experience.

Have you played DW6? It's the attack system on that. I'll elaborate anyway. Renbu is the system where you build up the renbu gauge by continually hitting enemies. When the gauge fills, then your renbu level increases. As your renbu level increases more moves become available in your chain. In the beginning, you have a maximum level of 2, but you can increase that by getting the necessary skills. If you are hit hard enough to interrupt your chain, your amount filled in the gauge will decrease. Over time, without attacking and not getting on horse that has Renbu Gait, your renbu gauge decreases until it is completely empty. That's the main points of the system.

I can see how SW3 might mimic the changes in DW6, except for characters getting cut.  The SW series has about half the characters as DW, so I don't see the reason why characters would be cut.

Well, Koei already cut characters from SW, if you all remember. They cut out Imagawa Yoshimoto and Goemon Ishikawa completely (luckily, they put Yoshimoto back in XL2, but I wonder if he will only remain a XL exclusive character...) and they eliminated Mori Ranmaru and Okuni's storylines, which at least to me, constitutes as cutting characters. So I don't think we can rule out the possibility of Koei cutting anyone out.

That's a way-back quote.   Wink

I see what you're saying, but if they did, it would probably be only another 1 or 2 characters, as opposed to the 7 people cut in DW6.  And speaking of Ranmaru, I'd really love to see him with a musou mode in SW3.

umm..
I like Ranmaru..but why did Koei make him look and sound
so much like a girl??? and there was a really anoying part in one of
the series..(Mitsuhide Akechi touches Ranmaru's chin like Ranmaru's a girl.)
what's up with that?/...

Well Ranmaru was historically very feminine looking and was known as a beautiful boy, that is represented in the SW series in his voice and character design. As for his relationship with Mitsuhide in SW1 that was fabricated for the game as Ranmaru never liked Mitsuhide historically and took every opportunity to make him look foolish.

The Samurai Warriors series still seems a bit young to have a huge change-up. I can't really see then revamping all of the characters and switching to Renbu - and while I can't judge personally, due to a lack of a PS3 and a DW6 game, I believe it to be inferior to the combo based system of SW - to be a real happening for SW3.

As for character cuts, I can't really see them cutting out any more than 3. On a side note, I would like those three to be Nene, Musashi, and Kojiro...but even then, they'll just be replaced by other characters. There is quite a host to choose from, and Samurai Warriors has a ways to go to catch up with DW.

Well, as for Ranmaru's somewhat effeminate appearance, it's said that he was quite feminine in appearance as a young man, and the practice of shudo was quite commonplace during those times. Ranmaru was a page of Nobunaga, and rumored to be his partner in shudo. That may be an influence.

As for that part in his story, in SW1, touching the chin doesn't necessarily have to be an intimate act. It does imply closeness, yes, but really his relationship in that game with Akechi Mitsuhide was more of a mentor-student one. Too bad that was lost in SW2...

I'd actually like it better if Ranmaru was mean and malicious to Mitsuhide like he was in history.
