Well it turns out 2.4 does remove the ability to copy files to USB sticks and other data storage devices, i don't have an easy way to back my files up now. This is Sony's way of stopping people from copying game saves for easy trophies though.

Wait, WHAT!? I just ordered a freakin' HDD!! A 160GB, to be exact! I can't copy ANY of it? I just threw away $70! Man, screw Sony!

EDIT: Never mind. I just plugged in my External Drive, and it lets me copy saved data. That's all I'm worried about. Cool. I didn't waste my money, then. I'll just leave my rant above because it's funny.

At least this one will be 100% bug free, rather than having the risk of one Tongue

I saw that when I booted up my PS3 this morning to back-up my data. It actually took a good bit of time to install, which was around 7 minutes. AT least I won't have to worry about bugs anymore.

And as I type this, my External HDD is backing up my data. After that, I have to copy all of my saved data, then I can replace my HDD. Here's to an error-free operation! laugh

EDIT: It's complete. Turns out, I didn't need to copy my game saves. When you back-up your data, it copies EVERYTHING. Install data, music files, image files, game saves, profiles settings, ALL OF IT. I didn't even need to copy all of my game saves after the back-up. I didn't know it would back them up. It even backed up my Lost Planet and Genji System Data that have copyright protection on them. I am SO thrilled right now. I now have 114GB of free space. I can install any game that gets thrown my way. Excellence.

Yeah, I feel bad for those who got screwed with version 2.40. Is your PS3 running ok?

The PS3's been fine, offline games have been running smoothly, but theres been the odd crash here and there from some of my newest games. But my COD4 online only works around the midnight hours, it's awful, it can't be the PS3 that causes that, but it's really worrying me now. I wonder how long the PS3 can last if it is nearing it's time, Aw it's so youthful too, what a pity...Thanks for your concern for us MegaXtreme Wink But the 2.41 seems to have fixed the crashing for me, it's just the online. I'm calling Tiscali today for some support, if they refuse i'm switching Broadband, if that doesn't fix it, i'm getting my PS3 taken to Sony before the warranty runs out.

Well, I don't know if the bugs are fixed. While I was playing Virtua Fighter 5, the game froze up in a loading screen. The system wasn't warm at all or anything. I was signed into the PS Network. Is this whole deal screwing with people's online status all of a sudden? I'm just wondering what caused it. I hope it's not the new HDD.

Well that's not good. Mine don't crash often at all. They did when I first bought it, it did once while saving Lost Planet online, and then it does this months later. Very sporadic with the freeze-ups. At least we don't have RROD to worry about. That lightens things up a bit.

Ever I got a new PS3. since my old one broke last year. It's been going well. It has frozen maybe 3 times during Call of Duty though.
