every store I went to they had them in french so I was forced to memorize my 10 or so years of french knowledge just to read it. Tongue

I don't have a lot of video's, but the majority of it is just random at best.

I only read the manuals if there is something not covered in the tutorial, or there's a subtlety of the game i need clarification on.

I think it's better to have a well thought out playable tutorial and on-line help.

I tend to read them, usually on the way home from the shop but if not, I read it when I get home to get a feel for controls and any info on storylines/characters. However, I tend to gloss over DW/SW manuals cause I know the majority of the controls  Wink

I would vote for something more interesting though..like a pop-up-book style instruction manual or a scratch and sniff instruction manual. But that's not being picky or anything  Grin  Roll Eyes

I read them but they're unmemorable.

Smiley What was memorable was the RTK XI tutorial.  Yeah!

I read them on the bus ride home from the mall right after I by the game. It serves as a little taste of the awesomeness I'm about to behold... As if I couldn't wait 15 minutes to just play the game itself

What you see in your eyes, is it really there?

I would look at an intruction manuals occassionaly. Only if I really needed to or I would just figure what to do with the game myself. In the great words of the Fairly Odd Parents, "No one reads the manuals!".

I've missed so many members come and go, what a shame. I don't know if I should consider myself a veteran, but I do assure anyone even if I am gone for a very a long time, I will always show up again.

Haha! I love that episode... Ahh Doug Dimmadome... Grin

But that reminds me, I also read the manuals when I'm stuck or when I have no idea how to reload or crouch... And on occasion I have to check how to shoot my gun (ie: the first time I played KOTOR)

One of the great pleasures that comes with an involved strategy title has been a good, solid manual that gives you all the basics, plus a lot of background flavor.  What I don't like at all are games that shortchange you in this respect, providing little more than a keys list and an in-game tutorial.

I fully read them now. When I picked up SW2 a couple years ago and didn't know what the EXP bar was, even after playing for awhile, I finally read the manual in detail and gave myself one of those "RTFM" speeches laugh

I find they are a valuable source of information, even if the gameplay of a particular game is not much different than previous versions I may already own. For example, when I bought Warriors Orochi, I immediately opened the box and read the manual before I got it home to play. The stuff about coalitions and alliances was nice to read about, since you might not pick up on it during normal gameplay.

Besides, I used to proofread manuals for a living so I'm naturally drawn to look at them for other reasons besides just figuring out games I know how to play anyway Tongue
