. It's not a terrible book, but at some points in the novel it just describes way too much about the setting, and I hate it when novels do that.
Other than that I usually don't read boring books.

Years ago when I was in 10th grade I expected the required
To Kill a Mockingbird
to be a snoozer. Instead, I loved it. Loved Clavell's Shogun so I moved to
King Rat
, Loved it too, then on to Taipan...ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz The key I've found is to only read books on subjects you really like.
After reading

I decided to never read anything pre-19th century...but then I found myself desiring to learn about ancient oriental cultures.

I think I found Shakespeare at school pretty boring. I think I mainly found reading Shakespeare texts so boring because I did not really understand them properly. The language is so old fashioned, nobody uses it anymore. What is the point in reading, right? Well, or at least provide a translation for “normal” people.
