majority of people preferred to have the Japanese VA to enhance the authenticity of the game.  I personally think so.

i'm looking forward to the Samurai Warriors 2: Empires with Japanese VA, rumored to be released in February 2007.

Obviously, we need Voice Option

We can't feel the situation if the voices are in English

Because English Dubbers not really into the situation of the games

Maybe they just translate and put in to the game

It's the same if you watch Japanese anime

It's better with Japanese language with English subtitle

We can also learn Japanese

Umm... no >_>.

Japanese don't have English voices, we don't have Japanese voices. Simple as that. People have watched too much anime and because they think Japanese voice acting is so fantastic in them, they have to hear them in Japanese video games as well. Yeah yeah, "SW takes place in Japan so we need Japanese voices!!!!", DW takes place in ancient China and in Japanase version characters still speak Japanese. I'm certain Japanese people are pleased to that and don't think Chinese voices are necessary.

So, if people really want to hear Japanese voice acting, I recommend importing  Shocked.

That's rubbish, only reason many of you want JP VA is because the English VA is horrible.
Yeah, that's a bit annoying as well. I either don't like from everything but I'm not immediately requesting for something better. That's life...

Wants Zill O'll Infinite

O RLY? ...And Japanese VAs are? How can you tell? I'll admit that the english voices need work, but I find that the reason the majority of people want the option is because those same people can't understand the language at all, and that they think it "sounds better" or is "more emotional", just because of that fact. They can't understand it, so they just assume english voices are inferior.

I've seen this situation a million times. An alternate VO option would be nice, but it is not necessary at all. I voted "somewhat important".

Wow. Shall I go against the grain here....

I actually liked the voices in DW4 and DW5. Zhou Yu's was especially nice, but then I am biased a little. :3

Anyway... Japanese works a little different than english in that they don't have accents on any of their syllables. That's why it can sound more (or less) expressive depending on the situation. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone, but I'm not sure how to explain it better. My japanese friend made me repeat the same word over and over until I stopped putting accents on the syllables. If you've spoken english all your life, you'd be surprised how hard it is!

So to me, English is actually more expressive, and I do prefer it to Japanese when I'm playing a game. Reason one: I'm not Japanese. Tongue

I think perhaps that the 'feeling' most of you say is lacking from the English VA isn't from the voices themselves, but because something always gets lost in translation. Thats why I always appreciate Working Design's translations. They put a lot into it, and worry more about conveying the emotion and meaning over the literal translation of words.

Anyway, long story short, It doesn't matter to me, as long as they aren't Japanese voice only. I would be interested in hearing chinese voice overs, but for main gameplay I'll stick to good ol english.

I liked the voices in DW4. I can't remember which Zhou Yu I liked now. I think it's DW4, and Sun Ce and many others. DW5 is much worse. SW1 is by far the best.

But if the English voice from now on is going to be as bad as SW2, then having Japanese or Egyptian or whatever Noise Option is kinda important just so I can forget how bad it is.

As if they are going to have Japanese VA option being available in the upcoming game from Koei.  They will have to add English subtitle as well.  If otherwise, no way in hell we would know what they're trying to say.  Keep with the idea of having Japanese VA option and add the English subtitle.

1. Subtitles are already on the game, regardless of language. All that's needed is the Japanese voice track. This was on the PAL game (although we didn't get the choice to use it ¬¬)
2. GOOD English VAs would make me less inclined to want Japanese VAs.
3. Anyone concerned about how Japanese voices would make the game more authentic should also ask Koei to make the characters all look Japanese  Cheesy
4. I don't think anything is lost in translation; the script is good, the voices are bad.

Its not that big of a deal to have voice options. I rather see more new stuff, rather than some new voice thing. It would budge the price up and less new stuff, which would not work. Because Koei needs some extremely new stuff in the games, and this just wont do it.

I completly agree with this.

If the english voice acting would be decent in Koei games, I would rather have that than Japanese.

I'm not against a good debate...but what I'm about to say could potentially provoke that thought that I am trying to stop a good discussion/debate. But I think it needs to be stated.

Whatever side your on. Whether you are for or against including the Japanese track in the games...everyone is just very closed minded on their opinions. What? Is compromise not popular anymore? Thats why I stated that if we had the Option, this discussion would be obsolete. So, those who think that voices aren't that important and are all for just keeping an English track, then thats your opinion. To some people, including myself, voices are important. There is no reason to scrutinize those who may have been exposed to more Japanese voice acting and enjoy it and wish to have it inputted in the games.
Those who think that we should have a Japanese track. I'm with you. But, you know. There are a couple of good English VA's out there, but just in case they are never hired to work with Koei, it would be nice to have the JP option available now wouldn't it?

I said this awhile ago, but with an option, everyone would be happy. I don't think anyone can disagree with that.

I understand what many are saying but some aren't being legitimate with why they want the JP VA. I think that first off we need the translation to be done well, and then find some good yet cheap English VA, heck call ME Koei many ppls say I can act and such so I would not mind.  We have the talent just find them, I rather the extra space be use on the gameplay, and not voice in JP.

i think it's very important and that the voice should be in sw & dw
i mean, it's cool to play as a kung fu dude in ancient china/japan,
but to hear some rocker america sounding voice, in that situation, is stupid.
i mean, i'd be better even if they got some japanese dude who speaks english
to do a voice over. american voices in dw/sw does not fit, and i think is dw/sw's biggest flaw, hands down. when i played dw for the first time, 3-4 years ago yet still fresh in my mind, the first thing i noticed upon playing it, is that the voice over is lame.
