Must disagree completely. KOEI has always given such a good price break for thier expansions to the base game. Empires is a stand alone or add on, and the cost was only half the price of a normal game, and in some cases 1/3rd the cost of the high end games. Empires is a great deal. KOEI hasn't lost any fans over it, instead it has added new fans that have never played the other versions.

A SW Empires game would ROCK bigtime.

i wonder what improvements there will be... (hmm all empires so far have had a decent CAW)

so... not much is announced as of yet, but start speculating... im really really exited about this... this could be the best expansion yet IMO..

Woah  Shocked. That's cool, I never expected this to happen. Mainly because SW2 lacks so many important characters, meaning most of the fightning is going to be between normal NPCs >_>. Well, I hope someone like Motochika Chosokabe gets Special NPC model at least.

yeah me too.. but don't forget... there hasn't been an empires w/o a CAW... also this means u can make whoever u want in the CAW if u really want to including other daimyos!

Figures. I wish Koei'd spend this time working on SW3 instead of expansions. If they really wanted too, they could make Empires a mode in the main game.

Bad move on Koei's part. Now I'm not going to even buy SW2 when it comes to NA I'll just wait for empires n save some money instead of buying both

Why? Both SW2 and SW2E will certainly be much different from each other and because Empires is just an expansion, it's going to be cheaper than original. I'm also sure it takes pretty much time from Koei to release the game in NA and Europe so you have plenty of time to play SW2 before Empires is released >_>.

Well I  have to agree with Uchiha Itachi there. I would think this would of been a better move for Koei but no we get this. Although I guess I can still get it and hope this expansion packs have ended and will never show its face on the PS3.

What? No way...this is getting ridiculous. Koei hasn't even released Sengoku Musou 2 here yet and now they are planning and releasing an Empires expansion as well as that XBOX live thing...?They can't even keep a solid release date anymore and now they want to sell more expansions? Stupid move...I don't like this concept at all. The only way I can see it working is if they include an Empires mode on the SM2 release for the US/UK. Otherwise this expansion is pointless on this side of the world...

Hopefully they keep some concepts like in DW5E where all generals and officers are playible characters. As well i would be happy if you could have all your nearby officers in the battle instead of just 6 and 2 backups. That way bigger armys and wars.

Although many fans of the series wish to have it, SW is going down a dangerous road that DW went down a while ago. To this day, no game has been as acclaimed by both fans and critics as highly as DW3. For the series, some consider it the pinnacle of quality; the levels were second only too few of the great ones of DW2. This was before, of course, the expansions took place. Koei is running out of ideas that made them great to begin with, and even with so many loyal fans to give them a pat in the back, they won't last long if their strike continues.

On another note, the less popular Romance of the three kingdoms is often praised more often then the DW or SW series and only gets better by improving as the series goes on, not diminishing as DW has somewhat. Almost each game is changed greatly in quality and especially game play.

Exactly, we still have 3way fights in SM2/SW2, not as frequent as the first game, but they are still there.
This also brings up the question of, will Yoshimoto come back? at the least with a uniqe NPC look, maybe Kennyo(sp?) i doubt Goemon will make anything more then a "apperance", but hey a guy can dream.
