Got the link over at the-scholars.com.

Battles look to be real-time now. It may work similarly to VI and IX, where you give orders during a pause that are carried out in real time.

Sooooooooo hyped. I so dearly hope it will be released outside of Japan.

Judging by the gameplay photos, the battle system looks nearly identical to Nobunaga's Ambition Rise To Power. I always thought that RTP brought gameplay elements to the NA/ROTK series that really set it apart from other titles in the series.

The portraits look incredible! Just wow, I'm glad to see they adopted the full body picture like the most recent Nobunaga's ambition.

On a side note, Cao Cao looks like such a OG lmao.

I'm already afraid this might suffer from Duke Nukem Forever syndrome, but my only desire above all else is that upon release (assuming this is still intended to be the final installment) they make it mod friendly. I dont care if it fails to live up to what we deserve after 5 years of complete silence, or if the AI is just as rubbish, or (shudder) worse then what it was in 11, or if the mechanics are broken. I just want the community to be able to carry on the game after it dies in the Koei offices.

If I was getting greedy I might ask for an English PUK too >.>

That said, the full body portraits are looking pretty slick, and I have identified what I hope is the Gan Ning mug shot in the battle screens (centre mugshot at the bottom of the screen in the left-mid screenshot.) Cao Cao certainly does look OG, while Liu Bei is adopting a more "Jesus-esque" pose. On the flip side, I wouldnt say the years have been kind to Sima Yi...

Thanks for the link, that's very very good news.

Now, looking at these pics I notice only 3 types of units. + I really don't look forward to the realtime part of the game, if its a red alert style then we might have a big disappointment.

My honest wish was to have the same ROTK XI but with better graphics, more interaction on a local level, much more features be it on the diplomatic, war, economic, and personal side.

If we are looking here to simply a different game under the same franchise then we have to cross our fingers and just hope for the best.

Hows does building fortifications and defenses stand when you have a new map for every battle ? "Building" was an interesting side of ROTK XI, is it also available in previous installments ? (meaning could be available for this one too ?)

One of them (maybe 6?) has set maps for the various territories, and you can build traps between battles in them--that could be pretty easily expanded to include turrets and bases. X has separate battlemaps, but you could build camps and fortress on the "world map", then if the builder fought there (an attacker takes time to destroy even an undefended one) he gets to use them in the battle, though I don't recall them having much effect, especially compared to XI.
Edit: Yeah, traps are in VI but you can only build them at the city map itsef I believe.

I doubt it'll end up being Red Alert style--Iron Triangle was real time and Rise to Power had real time battles and neither were much like C&C (though I haven't played that series since the 90s).

But I definitely hope it's still in to a large extent where you can custome defenses; I love building big defensive arrangements to form Lu Meng's Ruxu forts or turn Hanzhong into a real stronghold.

I'm not too worried about the realtime--VI and IX had semi realtime where every few days you gave orders which were then carried out. Nobunaga's Ambition's recent PS2 games did as well, and I felt both worked quite well.

Is it for sure real time?  In the screen shots it has the pic's of officers on the top and bottom.  Are those by chance turn orders?

Nevermind.  I saw it in the translation...I hate realtime.  I hope it works.

I was kind of hoping the game would look more like RTK11 with RPG elements, more akin to 10.

I'm not prepared to be disappointed, just yet, but hopefully there will be more then what we've seen so far. If it looks like this on release it better have some darn good AI, many RPG elements and ranks to choose to play as, and good character creation.

I mean, at the least they could make it look and play like Kessen 2 battles/graphics, with ROTK depth. Most computers these days can handle that if it's optimized correctly.

Many are going to be disappointed, I'm afraid. According to this post on Koei Warriors that translates some news, it's faction based, not officer based:

^I found out about this post from the-scholars.com and figured I should share it with this board.

Also seems to be more indication they want it to run with fairly low system requirements.

I am for one, mostly disappointed then. It seems as though they are taking a step backwards. No graphical improvements, no officer based play, sheesh. At the very least they could release an English Version of RTK10 with the Power up kit in English, and maybe the PuK for 11 in English.

Actually nevermind... I guess Koei just doesn't care about their western fans.

I guess they are just trying to make some easy money by releasing a half-baked sequel.

I really hope this comes out for PS3. Never played an ROTK game on a console before, but I would really like to try.
