Where?
I could give you some examples but it's really a matter of opinion. If you honestly think every single line in the game is bad then there's probably not much point.

Fair enough.
After competing the story mode they're is nothing to do. I've tried conquest mode but it is horrible, not to my taste. Plus the story mode isn't really worthwhile doing again. Is it me or does it seem Koei always seem to be taking a step in the wrong direction? Its been like this for a good few years now. Plus ROTK12 looks like won't be that good after reading about it now.

I have to agree with ShuFan, for the most part the the writing is sloppy, it's bad, but it's not terrible.
As for Cao Rens design, I don't hate it. Heck, I don't even care. But the design has gotten so over the top that he literally looks like a space marine. Here's some pictures for comparison.

Compare to this. Don't get me wrong.
Cao Ren looks awesome
. It's just, he space marine now
As for Liu Chan surrendering, yes it's wise to save the lives of his people, but the game pegged him as an intelligent ruler who saw that he stood no chance, so he surrendered. When in fact, he's mostly incompetent, but the game didn't portray him as such, because his dad was the HERO OF JUSTICE
Also, I bet the game had tons of FanService that I didn't see because I only watched the cutscenes.

While I agree that Conquest Mode is pretty rubbish, have you tried the DLC? The classic costumes, some of the weapons and the stages added a little replayability for me. And I haven't done it myself but the weapons and costumes might just make it worthwhile to redo the Story Mode.
And yes, Koei has been slowly declining for me for a few years now; and the pace has quickened over the last couple of years.

Fair enough, and the resemblance there is uncanny. (The picture of Cao Ren is getting a 403 error.)

While I agree Koei purposely sidestepped the issue of Shan's reign, they have never gone very far into the political side of the whole story. For instance they've
never
portrayed Sun Quan anything
like
his historical (and novel) counterpart.

Well, it sounds like you know what i'm talking about anyway. I think it's mostly the body type they decided to give Cao Ren, if he was shorter and the shoulder plates were different, then I wouldn't be be able to draw that comparison.
You're also right about Warriors not saying anything about politics. I guess it just comes with the territory.

How you guys doin'? I ain't posted on here for a while.
Anyways, I saw this little discussion about DW not having a good story and to be fair, that's very true. Nothing seems to progress as each game advances to the next - aside from a few new missions, graphics, and a bit of expansion. I still think that they should probably make a maximum of one more game regarding the three kingdoms era, then move on to another. I mean, how long can they keep this going for? Take other games for example -- Assassin's creed, Call of Duty, Final Fantasy etc -- each game, they don't just try and improve the graphics, but they obviously start a new story each time; and sometimes new characters (always for FF) are added. Granted, the genres are different to DW, and as has to be the story itself since Dynasty Warriors is based on history (some of the games aren't nearly as good as the rest either) but at least they show definite change to each game they make -- much more than Dynasty Warriors anyways. I could go into more detail but I don't really have the vigor to do so lol.
If you mention the games Dynasty Warriors 7: Xtreme Legends, and Assassin's Creed Revelations/Batman: Arkham City to me in regards to which sounds more exciting, then it's obvious it's gonna be one the latter two because I obviously expect a new story with different things to do -- unlike DW which seems to be the same each time. What, we're gonna get Free Mode (good I suppose - but they should've had that before), add a few characters and then what? We've seen a lot of this before. It's simply too much of the same thing over and over again to have any sort of broad appeal. Therefore, Koei have gotta completely reboot the series and revolutionise the story itself somehow, or else I don't see the series getting becoming any more succesful in the future. Perhaps they should co-develop the next game with another company?
P.S In regards to my comment about greating a new story, yes there's options like Samurai Warriors or Warriors Orochi, but I think they follow the same systematic gameplay as each other - there's nothing new or 'fresh'.

They tried that with Troy Warriors or whatever they called it. But come to think of it; yeah. That's a good idea, but it's had me thinking about why other companies do this as well. It would be great of Koei would make another Dynasty Warriors, and this time, actually have a whole different Dynasty as the subject of the game. Heck, didn't Korea have a three kingdoms period too? Why don't they use the history from that? And why won't the developers of Battlefield 3 (DICE) try to make a game like Battlefield 1000 (as in, the year, 1000). Yeah that would be cool. Take the frostbite engine and use it to make medieval based multiplayer game. Imagine how cool sieges would be? You could use Rams, and catapults to destroy walls, and then attack the castle. Boy that would be neat.
But here's why they would never do it; the Battlefield Developers already are experts on modern weaponry, planes, guns, tanks, ect. They would have to spend time and money on researching or hiring new developers to guide that style of game. This is why Koei hasn't made every Dynasty Warriors game focus on an entirely different Dynasty every iteration of the game. It's cheaper to just keep on making the same game.
Now I know you're asking, in that case, why doesn't Final Fantasy do that? That's because Final Fantasy is entirely fictional and the developers have the freedom to design the next one in any direction they want (As you're probably aware).
So, here's my thought. Instead of the next Dynasty Warriors being set in war torn china, why don't they just make their fictional universe with their own countries, technology, and create a game that way? I mean, look at Dynasty Warriors 7. The art direction for character and world has become extremely similar to other JRPG's (I'm looking at you, Final Fantasy XIII). Imagine some spectacular original world with battles based on Dynasty Warriors fighting mechanics. The possibilities are endless (You know, as long as they don't make it as bad as N3 ninety nine nights).
So here's the question. What kind of fictional universe would you guys like? Low, or high fantasy? Dark ages technology, modern day technology, or futuristic tec?

Warriors Orochi is most likely the best Dynasty/Samurai Warriors there is that comes to my mind, but I don't wanna see a game without these great characters in it. I do admit that Tecmo Koei should make more story lines in the Dynasty Warriors series which should be based more on fiction rather than history. That's why I truly LOVE Dynasty Warriors 4: who would have ever thought Sun Jian would be at the battle of Chi Bi fighting against Cao Cao? Maybe it wasn't historically accurate, but it is fun and refreshing to the storyline we all know. I do admit that I am NO fan of Dynasty Warriors 7; in my opinion, it's the worst Dynasty Warriors game since Tecmo Koei are focussing more on the Graphically aspect of the game, rather than the storyline (the story mode was a down pointer).

I understand what your saying and agree with you there. WO series were fun and enjoyable with friends.
I haven't played DW7 because I'm not really bothered with DW games anymore. The last one I bought was DW6E and it was a let down. All I can say is DW4 and 3 were my favourite. If they released that on the next gen console with it being changed, I'd buy it.
I think Kessen 2 had that fictional storyline your talking about. Like Cao Cao and Liu Bei are brothers. Made me laugh.

In that case you should buy Dynasty Warriors 4 Hyper for the PC. You get graphics improvements like anti-aliasing, there is also a tool that let's you mix and match weapons and movesets (for instance, you could have Lu Bu's moveset with the edit officers great sword).
Also, there is an option to determine how many people appear on screen at once. On Maximum pretty much everyone is on screen at all times, meaning no pop ins. Plus the AI is more aggressive and they actually fight eachother. If you have a computer with parts made after 2006 your computer should be able to handle it.

Sounds great except I have an old PC. I have a laptop but its my brothers and I'm only allowed to do work on it. You can see thats why I don't bother with the PC stuff, such as ROTK.

Is there any chance for Yu Jin and Yue Jin to appear as playable character??
I mean Wei has few playable character compare to Shu and Wu,and only three of five Wei main general are playable.

To be honest in the next installment there is a better chance than ever to see Yu Jin and/or Yue Jin be added to Wei's roster.
I do have to add that Wei should have almost the same amount of playable characters as Shu and Wu at this point. Back on DW3 Wu had more than the the others had, but they have been adding one additional character to Wei and Shu than to Wu in each new installment to the franchise since then.
As for "main generals" its a bit of a misleading angle that the games/books/real history may have lead you to think who are the "main generals of Wei." I won't go into more detail unless asked.

I enjoy DW7; it has, however, one
huge
flaw that bugs me immensely. The ally AI soldiers run away from the player character.
Seriously, the AI are in mid fight and just take off. It is annoying. I would love for the troops to keep on fighting instead of expecting me to just kill everything (which usually happens anyway), but that is beside the point.
I know the game isn't really much for the
reality
facor, but come on!
The AI in the previous DW games (disregard DW6, as it had the very same feature) were great. The soldiers fought one another and continued doing so until one of them died. The ally troops didn't take off in the sight of the player character, but rather; kept up the fight alongside him/her.
Its ridiculous.
