Kirikou and the Sorceress

Loosely based on a West African Folk tale, this is a French/Belgium animation film and dubbed into English though some of the translation could be a little better in terms of sentence structure. The art-work is beautiful to watch, so colourful sometimes and managing a nice balance between the darkness and the colour at other times. The innocent and noble nature of the child hero Kirikou combined with the sweet tale and the animation make this a charming film to watch. The story has enough twists and turns to keep up the interest, though it does drag during one middle part and would have tweaked the ending, what lessons there are in the tale are subtly done rather then the ramming of some Western films. Most enjoyable though the nudity can take getting used to

Join the club. I fell in lovebegan to deeply admire Ken Watanabe after that performance. I've heard some cirtics say he movie touched upon stereotypes of the Japanese culture... and I say 'nay!' to all those naysayers!

Shocked is that a Monty Python reference I do see?

I think it's an extremely amusing concept in general. I also got a mind-candy when Nate found out that Katsumori worked with the general he was working with. I don't know why or how, but mind-candy is good.

One of my all time favourite movies. It really doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

As for what I'm watching........nothing. It's 4 in the morning and I have no idea why I am still awake. Good night.

I asked a question to see if anyone would mind if I editing the thread rather then making a new one, they answered. Kindly allow people to answer questions. Wink
