That's Miss Queen to you

Hello how's it going out there. Whether it be Pandaland or something like that. However I was thinking, this would be a wonderful place to post about some of the biggest rivalries in the time period from 184 aaaaaaaaaaalllllll   the way to the end of the TK era. Discuss the reasons for the rivalries. Who was better, and why so and so should/ did win. Rivalries such as

1: Sima Yi VS Zhuge Liang
2: Yuan Shao VS Cao Cao
3: Gan Ning VS Zhang Liao
4: Guan Yu VS Xu Huang
5: Xiahou Yuan VS Huang Zhong
6: Cao Cao VS Lu Bu
7: Jiang Wei VS Sima Yi

and many others, so feel free to post about the rivalries.

Xiahou Dun saw Guan Yu as his rival because Guan Yu gained Cao Cao's trust quickly or he saw Guan Yu as an obstacle for his lord Cao Cao.  Anyway he was looking for an excuse to kill Guan Yu and found it when Guan Yu left Cao Cao.

It was more so Cao Zhen v. Zhuge Liang than Sima Yi, and I think I see some novel in there.

Yuan Shao v. Yuan Shu

That's a really big one.

My story, Fallen Kingdoms read it, you'll like it Wink

History is... amazing, but it is also tragic. It is a story of never ending heroism, deceitfulness, wonder, pain, and tragedy. It is an unfinished epic, an unsolved mystery. There is so much we do not know, and there is so much we have yet to learn.

Sun Quan vs. sanity?

Or,
Lu Kang vs. Yang Hu
Sima Yi vs. Cao Shuang
Huang Zu vs. the Sun clan
Gongsun Zan vs. Yuan Shao

I liked that one.

What a'bout Xiahou Yuan vs Huang Zhong?? Or is that only in the game?

Queen did already post it, but I don't think it's classed as a rivalry. Huang Zhong did kill Xiahou Yuan, but I do think the game or novel made it into a rivalry.

I also think so. IIRC Liu Bei's Hanzhong campaign was the only time they met. That isn't enough for a rivalry in my eyes.

would you say that Zhou Yu had a rivalry with pretty much all of Shu? (if not, then at least Liu Bei/Zhuge Liang)

I would say more toward Zhuge Liang. Sun Quan and Liu Bei were the rivals.

When I see the world rivals I think more along the lines of Gan Ning and Ling Tong or Yuan Tan and Yuan Shang. Allies that are not particularly fond of each other that may lead to a falling out. Not enemies.

Wouldn't really call Gan Ning and Zhang Liao rivals. They both took part in the battle of He Fei in AD 215, but don't think they exchenged words or whatever.

Quan said, “Mengde has Zhang Liao, and I have Xingba. We are matching in strength.”

I think that's where Koei got the game rivalry from. It does make for a good rivalry, however ficticious.

Yea, you already know who I'm bringing into this discussion. lol

Wei Yan and Yang Yi<---CLASSIC Rivalry,

Wei Yan-Soldier-Warrior/Small Time Leader-Strategist
vs
Yang Yi-Paper Pusher/Official.

 Cheesy

I wouldn't Say Zhuge Liang, because there was no Rivalry besides Boss vs Employee. lol
