Well... I didn't really enjoy the game all that much. It's my least favorite out of the latest five. Still it has a wide variety of scenarios and has the very first ROH scenario, which isn't exactly one city per customer, which I found interesting and more challenging. The battle stype is similar to 7 but more complex.

My story, Fallen Kingdoms read it, you'll like it Wink

History is... amazing, but it is also tragic. It is a story of never ending heroism, deceitfulness, wonder, pain, and tragedy. It is an unfinished epic, an unsolved mystery. There is so much we do not know, and there is so much we have yet to learn.

by completion, do you mean all the items? Scenes? Endings? You could probably find out how to get all of them by going to gamefaqs.

If you wanna get the most enjoyment out of the game, just keep playing until you get a knack for it. But some basic tips

Make sure you give the right officers the right units so they can make use of their abillities. Make sure you do a lot of spying before you attack. Don't attack a base that can get an immense amount of reinforcements unless you use a strategy that can defeat the defenders in a short amount of time. Also, train your characters stats so you can optimize on his abilities.

If you want money, form a band and pillage nearby areas and use that money to buy items so you can learn new skills.

or if you don't want to get bad fame (and your playing after Lu Bu is executed), go to the most north western town and keep observing the facilities there. One of the people there might give you an item, and if you are lucky they will give you Lu Bu's old pike (+8) war.

But it's been two months so i'm sure if you've been playing it you know how to go through it now.

Is this 8 or 9 cause I need major help in 9. It being in korean doesn't help too. I tried to play Cao Cao and sent out a unit to invade but the commands were all weird and they fough each other like they fight in NA IT. And the duels seem to be random cause Xiahou Yuan actually challenged Lu bu...

To day this remains one of my favorite games. Any specific areas you need help on? At the risk of sounding arrogant, I consider myself pretty good at the game.

It's not that I need help beating the game, because i've completed it many times. The problem is, I can never work out who to position where so my force is balanced and I can never work out who to send into battle etc so I always click "auto". Any ideas?

@concord67: I think it is a better idea if u know the history. Well, do you ?

And I liked RTK 8 system bcoz it's very liberal as I can do whatever I want using whichever officer, without "unifying China as objective". The only thing I didn't like was its battles.

I think 8 is my favorite in the whole series.  I love the way the game takes place from the council chamber, I wish that would have stayed a game constant.

I'm trying to keep my copy of VIII safe so it doesn't damage anymore

I'm playing as Liu Biao currently

and I made a oath with Kuai Liang so if I die

I can play as him
and when he dies

I can play as Liu Cong I hope

There's nothing wrong with choosing Auto for march formations, by the way.  I find it does a half-decent job most of the time.

At the end of the day, battles are mostly numbers-vs-numbers.  It's troops against troops, officer ability vs officer ability, tactic % vs %.  There are specific tactical tries you can make to overcome any of these deficits, but without a specific problem it can be hard to give specific advice.  At the end of the day, any battle you can win that inflicts a greater proportion of damage is worth it in the long run.

Getting an "optimal" combat setup isn't all that hard, but it does take time.  You have to research your officer pool, make sure the best combat generals are in the field with the best unit.  It takes a while to flip through all the menus and remember it all, but if you have the patience for it, all the better.

Like others have said, the game by its very nature is a sandbox.  Why not just try all the tactics and ploys and see which ones work best?  I really don't bother with them all that much when I play VIII, honestly.  I just use Rally to keep my morale up, cause it's easy.  I'm playing VII right now so I can't remember the best tactics in VIII... as said earlier there's probably an analysis of specific tactics in GameFAQs.
