Which sport do you feel is better Boxing and MMA and why?

I'm gonna go for MMA because it is combination, plus I get bored only watching punches the whole time, in MMA I get to see everythting so it leaves me entertained.

I prefer MMA. It's more interesting, and is more of the full package. But, even though I'm not huge on boxing, I'd still like to see Pacuiao(excuse the spelling)vs. Mayweather.

I only watch boxing because Mayweather is from my hometown. But MMA has such a variety and it's unpredictable so I enjoy it a lot.

I actually don't like MMA. Boxing for me is more better. MMA should be banned in my opinion. I find it sick punching someone who has been knocked down on the floor. (I'm sure I was watching MMA)

Well in MMA there have only been 4 deaths total. In boxing that is the average on a yearly basis.
Boxing is more dangerous in my opinion because your only focus on a few areas of the body, when you only have a few places to focus you on you'll do more damage leading to worse injury. In MMA it isn't as bad.
I watch MMA a lot but the refs do stop the fights, they look for signs where you can tell.
Boxing is way easier because you can duck and nothing can happen to you, in MMA you could get kneed to the head, MMA is harder because you have more to worry about. Boxing still requires talent as well though.

I see your point.

But punching someone who has fallen to the floor is not a skill. Its more of a streetfight. I really think if MMA had a strict rule on someone falling, it would have been better.

I believe boxers have more power on the upperbody than MMA. Both sports require alot of traning.

But I prefer boxing as it has more recognized fighters. Boxing is a mind game and MMA can sometimes get boring with the grappling.

I like the scoring system of MMA better, you get points for just hitting your opponent, whereas in boxing, THE ENTIRE POINT is to knock him out. You could win an MMA match with little damage done to your opponent or yourself. But in boxing, one of you has to be beaten up to the point of not being able to get up.

I feel that most people who find grappling do not see the strategy and skill it takes to be one. Boxing is alright, Rampage Jackson who is an MMA fighter should become a boxer because all he does is punch, he hasn't thrown a kick or done a takedown in years.

However they are both good sports, but everyone has there preference.

Actually boxing gives points if you touch the opposition. You don't have to knock them out. Hence Muhammad Ali VS Joe Frazier, no one was knocked down and Ali won on points.

In Boxing, you fight for a long time which means damage is more likely to happen. If i am right, in MMA, more KO'S happen compared to boxing.

Boxing is more tiring in the late stages which makes the fighter want to knock them out quicker.

Try running on a treadmill for 25mins. Once you get off, you are put in a fight. Thats like the final round, very tiring. Most boxers would like to avoid that.

Jackson offered Tyson a boxing fight which did not happen. Love to see that matchup. Grappling is okay but can be alot boring when they take ages and swap positions. Obviously you wouldn't feel that way if your fighting.

Actually the point system used in MMA is based off of Boxing's point system. MMA matches can be hard to judge, like UFC 104 Machida vs. Shogun was a hard one to judge leading to a re-match.

MMA Round Set Up
Non-Title: 3 Rounds each 5 minutes in length
Title/ Championship: 5 Rounds, each 5 minutes

Definitely prefer MMA.  One of boxing's best, Tyson, is borderline mentally handicapped and one of its all time greats, Muhammad Ali, suffered brain damage.  I have a hard time watching a sport whose best athletes are the ones who can take the most hits to the face.

I'll take Fedor over either of those two clowns in their prime any day of the week.

MMA is mainly big in America, it hasn't really caught on overseas. Maybe it will, maybe it won't, but as long as I can watch it I'm alright.

Clowns? I don't think Fedor would win Muhammad Ali's chin. Ali has never lost on a knock out. Ali can take alot of shots to his body and face. It was Ali himself who wanted to continue and thats why he suffers parkinson's disease. To be the best, you have to take the risk.

Muhammad Ali is known more than Fedor due to his strong heart and determination which no fighter has now. I don't think a clown has ever broke his chin and carried out a full 10 rounds.

Even a old Ali defeated George Foreman and Ali was not in his prime.

Not all best boxers can take hits to the face. (David Haye, Joe Calzhagi)

MMA is real big in the USA, Brazil, and Japan.
Canada has been getting more into MMA due to Welterweight Champion George St. Pierre who is from Montreal.

I do not like Fedor, Brock Lesnar could easily take him down and TKO him.

Muhammad Ali and others are not clowns, if you can take a lot of punishment like they did you have to be one of the toughest around.
