But did I deny that? What point does that prove? Keep in mind almost that entire team was back and won the title next season. Wink

Well with you logic, I believe it makes the SEC a weak conference.  And who are you kidding?  They would have been dominated had McCoy not been injured... or had they faced Boise State.  laugh

But it is reasonable! If your team doesn't show up in the bowl game, how does that reflect on your team? These games are HUGE for a lot of schools! You don't think Michigan St had something to prove? Rich Rod in the Michigan game basically was coaching for his job! These games are the best way to judge teams because you see what each is made of!

It doesn't reflect well on your team, but these games are only huge for some schools.  Do you know why Michigan wants a top 25 football team year in and year out?  Because they're in the top 25 academically even when competing against the Ivy's.  In fact, Newsweek ranked them in the top 15 in Law, Medical Research and Patient Care, Engineering, Education, Business, and many of the sciences.  Mich State is a little behind them ranking usually in the top 50.

No, Michigan State had nothing to prove.  They invariably fall apart at the end of the season, this season they just took a little longer.  They tried to prove that they don't fall apart a long time ago, but what did they do?  Fall apart.

Mich was going to get rid of Rodriguez either way after the losing seasons and NCAA violations and a 0-6 record vs Ohio State and Mich State.  The only person who wanted him at Mich was the AD, but now that he's fired... yeah.  Seriously, the bowl game didn't matter, he was out.

And you can pick any game and say 'this game shows what the team is made of', that statement is ridiculous.

But, I suppose it does cut both ways, doesn't it?

Yep, Conference USA is better than the SEC and so is the ACC... sad really.

Well I think what I think, and in this case I have a lot of faith that these teams would win, and if that makes me ignorant to you, then so be it.

No, it makes you ignorant by definition.  Here, let me look up the definition for you:

This was tame compared to what I expected! You had me down!

As you wish, although that was 3 years ago now... And not neccessarily. I think the defense wouldve stepped up, and I think we wouldve been fine, seeing as we ran all over them. McCoy can't play defense! And no....that wouldve secured the title if we played Boise.

St wanted to prove they belonged in a BCS game, and they showed why they weren't there. And although they didn't end the year well, I didn't neccessarily think they fell apart.

Michigan was through with Rich Rod, but he still wouldve potentially helped his status...maybe. And in relation to that vacancy, Michigan should really go after Brady Hoake. I think he'd be successful. That is provided he's given a little time.

You know though, it's kind of like a friend of mine said today. The SEC holds 3-4 of the best teams, but the level of some of the other schools has declined. I will admit, the overall talent of some schools in the SEC have declined, such as Georgia, Tennesse (even though they'll be fine in the long run), Ole Miss, these teams didn't show up this year. While I'd debate you over C-USA, the ACC could be a little deeper than we are. At least for now.

I'm not going to continue to argue over whether or not I'm ignorant. You can wave the definition in my face all day, it doesn't change what I think or say.

You're still down.

3 years?  While McCoy didn't play defense, he does have an effect on them.  Particularly, had he not been injured, Texas wouldn't have become so vanilla with the play calling leading to, after their first possession, a drive of 5, -4, -5, and 0 yards.  Of course it is hard to blame them for being plain seeing how many interceptions Gilbert threw anyway.  Having a freshman replace a four year starter and you think the effect is minimal.   Roll Eyes

I don't know about the whole Boise thing, that Alabama team sucked balls against NAQ teams.  They were blown out by Utah... how soon we forget.

St wanted to prove they belonged in a BCS game, and they showed why they weren't there. And although they didn't end the year well, I didn't neccessarily think they fell apart.

Mich St always falls apart.  That's what invariably means.  Even my friends who are Mich St fans know and openly admit this.  I'm guessing you heard this whole 'want to prove something' nonsense in the media... well chances are you heard someone who wanted to hype the match and get ratings.

Not a chance, that is why Mich brought in the new AD... to get rid of him.  The former AD is the only one who wanted him... and my idiot brother who blindly follows whoever is in charge.

You know though, it's kind of like a friend of mine said today. The SEC holds 3-4 of the best teams, but the level of some of the other schools has declined. NOPE!  The ACC and Conference USA are simply better than the SEC based on YOUR standards.

I'm not going to continue to argue over whether or not I'm ignorant. You can wave the definition in my face all day, it doesn't change what I think or say.

Which again just shows ignorance.

I counted this season. So 3 seasons/years.

I didn't say it was minimal. I simply said we wouldve been fine, and probably still won. Maybe just a little less spectacular.

Fair shot. I'd still debate whether or not St was trying to prove anything.

But I didn't base anything on one game! Now you think what you'd like on my bowl opinions, but even I wouldn't do that my friend. And I essentially said the ACC could be better than us....

Last point, I said I was done with this, and I am done with this, and that's all I have to say.

Well, I know this is old news, but LSU and Alabama are playing in the National Championship this season. I'd like to hear some opinions on the rematch. Love it? Hate it?

I personally hate it. Look, I love Alabama, but we had our shot and didn't get it done the first time against LSU. Oklahoma St should be in this game. Would it be a blowout? Probably, but at least we would've seen something else.
