i cant recall if i have ever gone past 1700, but miyamoto musashi comes into the game fairly late. i think in the 1690s. so maybe it is possible to go past 1700.
No, it can't go trough 1700. Trust me.

I made it to 1657.
By then, 2 forces have all technology and half the land.
Who has the shogun title will most likely win...

i think most scenarios start in the 1550-1572 timeframe. if you cannot conquer in about 130-150 years then most of the samurais will be starting to die. not sure how the game is set up though. the longest i have taken is about 40years to conquer. that was as oda in the battle of owari scenario. which is a tough scenario, since you always end up with two huge kingdoms on either side of you. for example shimazu on the west and takeda on the east etc.

i cant recall exact wording but when i got to 1700 it said something about the tokugawa samurai era ending and it is unfortunate that you couldnt unify japan.

so why does the game revolve around Nobunaga a lot of events happened after his death that would be perfect scenarios such as the Sekigahara battle and also many other events in the North with the Nanbu and Tsuruga. Why just stop scenarios after Nobunaga

that is why the game is called nobunaga's ambition. maybe koei should come out with something like tokugawa's dream or hideyoshi's destiny. LOL.

If you go past 1700 the game will end because Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama age had come to an end, and Meiji period will start i think.
The Edo era began well in the 1600s meaning Sengoku and Zuchi-Momoyama ended long before that. The Meiji restoration began in the mid 18th century.

History is... amazing, but it is also tragic. It is a story of never ending heroism, deceitfulness, wonder, pain, and tragedy. It is an unfinished epic, an unsolved mystery. There is so much we do not know, and there is so much we have yet to learn.

Just imagine... You play the game out to 1700, then 1800, then 1900! Next thing u know, your using kamikaze tactics, and the possibility of winning WWII is aparent, and then the last scenario: your in an office, creating nobunagas ambition

well i can tell you it's impossible
why?
well, i'm playing na tendou, on 1582 stage, it went allllll the way over to 1631 with ieyasu having died on 1630 xD and by the time i finished the game [ on 1631 ] i had about 78 officer in my list, and shimazu had 22 officer, with about 5 officers as ronins :/
this is like the longest stage, ingame date wise for me xD

I made it to 1700, the game ended, I had one officer reach 149 years old, I got soooo mad waiting for that mother to die. But it said something like "No clans succeeded the land before the turn of the century" i think it said more than that. It might've said something about European invaders which would ruin 2 large armies with 1 officer apiece
