Mr. Erikawa, in an interview in 2006 you were asked about if ROTK on the ps3 is coming out, and you reply "we also get a requests from our fans. Please expect it." http://ps3.ign.com/articles/703/703922p2.html

Since then there have been absolutely no updates on the production of the game. I have attempted contacting KOEI but there was no response from your end.

I do think I represent the game series's fan base when I ask you for a simple update on the status of the game - have you even started development? is it currently in development? Is it almost done? And when can we "expect it?" I think you owe at least this much after leaving fans in suspense for more than 4 years.

We do look forward to your timely reply.

Really, the *least* he could do is nothing. Posting more and more of these threads does not bring a release date/confirmation any closer to us.

I'm not sure about the PS community, but the PC community recently had a breakthrough in that we discovered how to edit/mod scenarios, so at least RTK will continue on through there.

The point of that though, is that really, the most you can hope for is that RTK, either in a new release (that we probably should stop holding our breath for) or through meticulous fiddling becomes a mod driven community, because Koei seems to be done beating this dead horse.

I don't think Koei is done with its flagship series and also wouldn't characterize it as a "dead horse."  NA13 was released on 360 in Japan in March which can only portend to an intended port to North America, given the 360's limited install base there.  Historically, RTK's follow NA's and it wouldn't surprise me to hear more about the series after E3.  The site here hasn't been updated since February and we know there are projects under wraps.  I don't think Koei has reached a great level of communicating with its fan base, but I wouldn't infer anything concrete from that.  They have a long established habit of silence followed by showing up out of the blue and announcing titles to everyone's delight.

I sure hope they do announce something after E3, that would make a lot of people happy, me included.

Honestly I agree with the threat creator. 4 years is ridiculous I would rather know the game would be out in 20 years than waiting until I die.

It seems like Koei has all but dried up on projects and information in the last few months. I get the feeling that the merger with Tecmo has had a lot of immediate negative effects.

4 years isn't as long as most think. Hell look at how long it was from Fallout 2 to 3...10 years.

Hell the last Mech warrior was in 2002, and they are just now getting to making a new one and its probably not going to be out till 2012.

Also considering they are running an RoTK MMO in Japan at the moment, it seems to me they are going to use that as a testing ground on new ideas and probably put the series on hold. This isn't uncommon at all in the industry.

and keep in mind trying to project what you're going to do in 5 years is really, really difficult much less 20 years.

there is also ROTK touch for goodness sakes - which is at least something. i haven't played it yet, but it's on the iPad now and may be a whole lot of fun. perhaps they're planning on moving the franchise into that market once those devices gain a lot of presence. the iPad really is a great device. i just hesitate to buy the game for my work device.

Yeah......they really need to hurry up and make the next ROTK. I rather see that then DW 7.

From what we are seeing out of keoi, we have a long run of neither rotk or na games coming out. They have laid out there 2010-early 2011 releases such as Troy, some other crappy games that made me I'll to think they are producing over our two wished for games.  I don't forsee them coming until late next year at the earliest. It's funny how rotk/na games give me a nicotine fit like feeling every couple of months. I've always appreciated the regularity in which they have produced them. If I had to guess I would say that the reason we are not seeing them is the console jump, yes they've released new gen in up, but they basically need to take the entire game apart and rework it for the new gen systems. It's a lo of time and resources even to translate the data and the 30 people that post here are not much of a reason to devote those resources. I'm with the guy in the 2nd post, I think it's time to stop holding our breathes. Maybe we should try playing some angry birds instread

I think it has come to the point where the series will not be continued until a later date.  Perhaps it is like the Fallout series, or perhaps Koei is testing online play for a potential title.  All of these are uncertain, but all we can do really is keep the spirit alive so that hopefully another Romance of The Three Kingdoms will be released.  I do hope they release another game, and I hope lack of commercial success stateside and abroad is not preventing the title from being created.
