The penetrate tactic is okay,I once used it and realized that I had one of my units standing between the crossbow unit and the enemy. Now I look two times if there is one of my units inbetween.

Penetrate won't deal friendly fire damage. Shower will. What Penetrate can do, however, is strike units in a forest if the targeted unit isn't in a forest. The instances to utilize that are few, but I did think the computer was cheating for the longest time due to that.

also crossbow soldiers could siege without taking damage if they use a tactic and they are the only unit can use tactics against buildings towers cities and gates etc

including siege weapons use tactics becuse its the only attack they have but we all should say siege weapons are ussles they are short in movement defensless expensive (for people like nanman) also you can siege with infantry easily and win

I know, but siege weapons are better because upgraded cities cause a lot of damage to bow units.

use tactics and cities dont counter attack also not to use one crossbow battelion but to rinforce them with more troops (make sure you put each and evrey officer with the most fitting aptitude) and siege weapons consume will each attack


also i apolgize on my stupidity for saying that units take 200-400 casualties in a shower

but today i jusy saw a 10000 crossbow man showring four units (including a gate) each unit took 800-1300 casualties

You should listen to us more often, but there's no reason to call yourself stupid. New players often have misconceptions about the game.

no actually i dident belive the truth and also the reserch is not rinforce ramparts
its somthing else i saw at the reserch menu also we all make mistakes right? like just what i did

Yes it is. Reinforce Ramparts gives 3000+ defense to all facilities and allows for forts to be built.

Level Three Tech, Defense. Reinforce Ramparts, not Facilities. Facilities does not give the boost.

In my experience my towers tend to be slow and with such a low defensive rating and enemies focusing on them they get taken out of a fight much quicker than archer units. Towers also have to use incinerate all the time, where archers can save their will for the final push to destroy a city.

it just depends on your other units, like if you have 2 cavalry units, 2 spear units, and 1 pike unit, they would fight the enemy directly preventing the eemy from attacking your towers. When the other units fight shoot some tower fire arrows at the units in combat, it will do about 1000 damage giving your front line units the advantage.

If you have Divine Bows, Shower doesn't do any damage to friendlies.
