I've been taking a peak at Warriors Orochi 2 for a while now and I'm quite interested.

I was thinking of picking it up (used from game stores is cheap), but I don't know if I'm going to be missing out on some of the back story or information from other games.

I played Samurai Warriors 1 a bit, but didn't really like that game due to the annoyingly hard missions and  castle levels that made advancing impossible.

I've clocked 74 hours on Samurai Warriors 2 and Extreme Legends and I love that game. The only two achievements I still need to get are the two mercenary mode ones.

The thing I'm worried about though, is if I will be missing out on something because I haven't played Dynasty Warriors or Warriors Orochi yet.

Should I go pick up Dynasty Warriors 6, then Warriors Orochi, then Warriors Orochi 2, or just skip the list and get Warriors Orochi 2? I live in Canada so I doubt I'll be seeing Warriors Orochi Z anytime soon (even Samurai Warriors 3 is who knows how far away)...

Oh, I guess I should also mention that I play on the Xbox 360.

Before WO2, I recommend Samurai Warriors 2, 1 is largely unneeded imo, a Dynasty Warriors that tells the Three Kingdoms well, like 5 or 6, and of course, WO1.

Well after reading the wiki it seems like DW 6 is the best, so I guess I'll go for that first. After I finish with it I can go for WO 1 and then 2.

Funny thing is I just got a new debit card in the mail and I need to make a purchase in 60 days to activate it Tongue

Personally I loved Dynasty Warriors 6. It was refreshing to be able to play as the Dynasty Warriors in high-resolution, with all-new movesets and costumes. If you get the game, forget everything from past iterations. Here is a list I previously made of the pros and cons of the game:

Quote
Pros:
-Improved graphics
-Reimagined character designs (now that I think about it, the old ones were getting boring, especially with releases using the same costume, i.e Warriors Orochi)
-Reimagined weapons
-New movesets
-Great soundtrack
-Environmental interaction
-Sieges
-More intelligent soldier/officer AI who work together, intelligent horse AI(player or NPC)
-Elevation in stage design
-Enjoyable new attack system
-Special attacks (Tome)
-Evading
-Pre-battle historical/novel summaries
-Vastly improved Encyclopedia
-Motion-captured/beautifully fluid attacks
-Voice galleries

Cons:
-Some new voice actors (especially for Sun Shang Xiang)
-Some reimagined weapons
-Cloned movesets
-Lack of soldier(and soldier attack) variety
-Randomized/Small chance horse farming
-Lack of three-way battles
-Lack of branching campaigns
-Mostly bland character interaction and stories

Really, I found Warriors Orochi 2 to be quite the bore. There weren't many new additions to the first game's gameplay save for "Strategies" and moveset nerfs, and the story was less linear, whereas the first's story was more captivating and tight. In fact, the only key plot points from the first game that come in to the second are a.) Orochi is dead, and b.) There are still some Orochi loyalists. If you have money to spare, then feel free to buy both Orochi games, but I'd rather just get Warriors Orochi 2 for the additional characters and the Dream mode.

If you're looking for info on DW characters I wouldn't recommend DW6, you should get DW5.

DW6 has 41 characters, 17 with individual musou modes and some have cloned weapons and movesets whereas DW5 has 48 characters all with individual weapons and movesets.

The WO series also has the character models from DW5.

Oh , it's kind of too late for that now O_O

I'm already done every Shu character except for Lui Bei, and I'll be finishing him sometime soon.
