i can tell you havent played dw3 if you think the ai in 4 was good
the duels were poorly done
the nanman level impressed me but thats about it
been faithful to the novel is not as important as every they did wrong and the graphics werent important either

and to the next guy
the stories were nice and long... wait a sec didnt every kingdom only have a single story mode you had to do over and over with the same first 5 levels every single time

yeah it had tons of stages sounds great on paper until you remember they had barely any maps and most of those maps were cut up into pieces so you could have 3 stages all on a single map

plus even the biggest maps were still tiny in the first place

and dont even get me started on the weapon leveling up

almost forgot there was barely anyone to kill in dw4 they were all spread out and always came in small groups boring

sure if you only want to play the game a little maybe do each kingdom mode once then sure its not bad but i like to play it with everyone and it gets horrifically boring when you do that also considering the small maps and cut out stages
huh? the levals were bigger than dynasty warriors 6, and i havent played dynasty warriors 3 but when i saw gameply, the graphics were worser than dynasty warriors 4 by miles, plus in there the troops just stand there waiting to be killed in dw4 they may come in small groups but they are like officers, they will go for you, even when you jump they will jump to attack you, the stages look bland to me in dw3,

and in dw4 you could be characters with other generals, if you dont know what i mean, i mean like you could be zhang he in yuan shao's story, and you can be diao chan in dong zhua story, and think about it, if there was large crowds in dw4, it would be to hard, and there was large crowds in enamy main camps, and stuff

whats wrong with the dualing engine? is it bad? is it rubbish? if so how is it? since they dont stand around letting you push them about, they were challenging and attack you, they would mostly defend BUT when you attack they would reverse it and do a counter attack.

the wepon system? hmmm yes go on i dont know what you mean by "dont get me started on the wepon levaling system" whats wrong with it? it was wicked since you dont have to keep gettting new wepons and keep gettting rubbish wepons and bad wepons. it will get you the highest wepon leval by attacking and killing as many troops as you can.

i will see what you say about that

no, but if they did I'd buy it!

DW4 is the best. I don't know how many times I've said it, but it just is. I still enjoy playing it to this day.

they made a remake of DW 4?

I think there was a PC version called Dynasty Warriors (4) Hyper. Maybe that's what whoever said it meant by a remake.

I'm torn between DW4 and DW5.
DW4 holds a special place in my heart for the first Koei game I bought myself. The AI is better than in 5, better weapon system, the best bodyguard system of Dynasty Warriors, the duels were great, and the costumes were probably on par with 5; but the autolock feature and the stupidly unbalanced troop counts really took some of the fun out for me.
DW5 had most of my other favourite costumes of the series, no autolock, generally better movesets, much more balanced troop counts which also meant slightly easier stages, individual maps; but had noticably worse AI.

Overall I think I liked DW5 the best. Don't have enough experience with SW to judge. And to extend it past those two, Dynasty Tactics was a fantastic game.

Dw1,Dw2,Dw3,Dw4,Dw5,Dw6,Samurai Warriors1,Samurai warriors2,Samurai Warriord 3,Sengoku Basara 1,Sengoku Basara 2,Sengoku Basara 3,Dynasty Warriors Strike Force 1,Dynasty warriors Strike Force 2?
The best game in my opinion of all the games listed here would probably have to be Dynasty Warriors 3.  As it was the first game I've played out of this entire list, the voice acting was so terrible it was epic, each level was awesome, etc.

I've never played DW1, SW(1,3), StrikeForce, and I haven't played much of DW2, so I can't comment on those.

Although DW4 improved on the gameplay of DW3, my main issue with DW4, was how the musou mode was set up.  After completing maybe 3-4 characters musou's in each kingdom, I couldn't really bring myself to complete all the other characters because I just didn't want to have to play through the same stages over and over again.

Where as in 3 and all the other games, almost each playable character(except DW3 since I think you Fu Xi and Nu Wa didn't have a musou and DW6) was given certain stages and a set amount to play through, making it easier for me to go and play through all the characters musou's.

The biggest issue with DW5 for me is probably the AI.

DW6 had the clone issue.

SW2, I think had the best way to level, as your move-set did not depend on your weapon anymore.  When I first played this game I actually had that same excitement I had when I played DW3, way back in the day, as I felt this game had the closest resemblance to it.  I don't think I have a main issue with SW2.  It just wasn't good enough to beat DW3. to: dxfatty

First off, know that I do not think DW4 is a disgrace to the series. I liked DW4. It trumps DW3 in movesets and graphics, but that's about all.

You really must play DW3 before you compare another game to it. Looking at gameplay is not enough.

As for graphics, they are quite superfluous. You cannot honestly tell me that graphics make a great game.

As for DW4 having more stages, this is true. But zhangliao100 is right. Most of these stages were cutouts of the same map. That can really get boring. You said something like the stages felt bland. Quite the contrary, if you had taken time to play DW3, I think you'd find them very fun. In fact, I'd say DW4's main weakness, along with perhaps story mode, was the unoriginality of the maps.

Story mode in DW4 was a very good idea, and I'm glad DW7 is trying it again. DW4 story mode, in my opinion, was poorly executed. I won't get into why. It's been criticized elsewhere and probably everyone has heard it before.

As for the weapon system, I prefer DW3's. DW4 offered consistency, but DW3 offered random stat boosts attached to weapons, like in DW5. It made for a nice "present" after each battle. I disagree with you when you say that you'd keep getting "rubbish" weapons. That's a rather indefensible statement, being that you've never played the game.

As for AI, DW4 and DW3 had about equal AI's if I recall. I believe DW3's was even harder than 4's, especially when it came to archers (ohmygoodness, those archers). Only thing I noticed different than that, was that in DW4 soldiers attacked you when you were in the air a lot. I found this more an annoyance (when trying over and over to mount a horse) than a challenge.

Well anyway, back to the subject:  police

Best game? That's tough. As for DW, I would usually say DW3, but really I don't play it much anymore, because it requires more time than more recent games to complete stages. But thinking nostalgically (it was my first DW game, that I played to death), DW3 my favorite. But because of the removal of the autolock feature (which was awful I think in DW3 and 4), DW5 is my favorite to play casually, but it is also the easiest DW game EVER.

BUT,... out of all the Warriors games I've played (DW3, DW4, DW4E, DW5, DW5E, DW6, DW6E, SW2, SW2E, SW2XL), I'd say SW2 (along with XL and Empires) is the overall best.
The detail (not talking about graphics) in everything was great. The story was actually compelling and the moveset system was amazing. And the characters were all solid, not cliches or  just over-exaggerated on one trait. And with characters' story modes, you could actually replay individual battles without starting the whole story mode over. Gold was nice, as was Survival Mode and Sugoroku.

Even with the horrible voice acting, DW3 will forever be my favorite DW game. It introduced me to Koei, and I loved playing that game. I've probably put more hours into that one game alone than any of my other games (yes, even Final Fantasy X.  laugh) I'm hoping that DW7 will take me back to that feel, since they've introduced so many characters, just like DW3 did.
