We must remember that ROTK, since about 2004 [or roughly DW's first appearance on the OC(Don't ask...)] has ceased to be the franchise game for Koei.  Their penetration of the North American market cannot be underestimated.  DW4 really gave them a leg up over other 2nd tier japanese developers(with no disrespect intended by ranking them 2nd tier), and DW is the single reason for their increased market share.  We must all accept that ROTK is strictly a prestige franchise now, moreso than NA because as it being a Japanese company, it can find homeland support for such a title.  That is why you see games like Trojan Warriors; they are capitalizing on the North American market.  As the above post says, it is the economics that determines when a game comes out.  We really shouldn't get our panties in a knot when things don't go our way.

I know that Dw is there main bread and butter and you can not blame them, in fact i even bought 4 or so of them but now I am bored to death of those ( i am more of a strategy guy)

I used to buy anything Koei, but now i hold out for for just the strategy type games when they rarely come out.

I hope that Koei does not forget that Romance and a few other games from way back got them to where they were in the first place and that us old time Koei players (21+ years of playing koei) would really like to see Romance 12. I wish they also would put out another uncharted waters.
They have another uncharted out i think but only in Japanese , it would be nice if they made it in English and released it to North America and Europe.

Also if they could do the same with  Boukou aegis 2035  ( warship gunner 3) you already have the game just make it in English please!

I am worried of the direction Koei is going, it does not even seem like the same company that captured my heart 21 years ago.  Sad

I know they have to make money and Dw was a huge money maker for them but even the younger kids i know are getting sick of the DW series and i believe changing the names of the characters and story (troy) will not help continue the dw games.

I believe it is time for something new and some of the old to come out.

I did want to say Thank you very much for the Nobunagas games though!  Smiley and Romance touch.

Please just give us strategy guys a few more games a year at least , It would be very appreciated. Thank you.

I'm afraid us strategy guys are a dying breed.  Everything is for RPG and FPS now.

yes please make XII cause i am bored to death of hack and slash DWs, WO, and SW. they get so repetitive so quick and require no thought process at all to play i like a challenge. And RoTK offers that with a wide spread feature of options to give depth that the history truly deserves.

Not entirely true. A Three Kingdoms Fan, I own both DW and RTK, and I have to say that DW in itself does require strategy. (if you're playing on chaos, and intend to secure the targets)

Again though, its all about the economics. The Western worlds youth just likes to hack and slash more then it likes to meticulously devise strategies that (may or may not) involve recruiting a bucket load of officers

I first played RotK on the SNES. I couldn't stop playing.... I'm still hooked up tot the game and i hope that 12 will come out soon. I would like to see a RotKXI meets Total War Empire.
I really would like to see Guan Yu or Lu Bu cut through several lines of pike-soldiers.... Just like the cavalry in TWE....

I started searching for al kind merchandise of RotK. Found several movies, the anime series en hoped to find a Dutch version of the book.... Couldn't find a translation... So maybe i will start reading the English version of the book...

Wow I just came on koei's site hoping to see something about a new Romance of the three kingdoms. I just finished watching Red cliff lol. Good to see people still wondering about it too. I been a big fan of RTK since I first played RTK 6. And bought them all since. I also play Dynasty warriors but I'm tired of that franchise not enough changes for me. Another game they should bring back is Kessen but make it more like the first 2 kessen's.

So far, RTK have been a great game, thanks to Koei. In RTK 12, it would be much better, if the rulers and officers have more exposure to their people, not just war and development and the challenge mode or fictional scenario would be brilliant addition.

That's an excellent idea I've ever heard so far! Grin laugh Governments cannot function well without the supports of their people. If people hate fighting, they'd simply revolt and topple the governments in one fell swoop! That's a proven fact in history around the world. I always believe in that!  Wink

For example, Liu Bei won the heart of the people of Ba Shu, because he ruled with kindness and justice, and he also listened to his people for suggestions and governance.

In the Art of War, Sun Tzu also kept stressing the importance of people being satisfied and supportive of their governments war effort, as long as they've been taken care of all the time.

a good idea very much so the people are the blood of any nation.

are you saying also that you might be able to have a fictional scenario where you might be able to actually set up the scenario a clean slate like all the territories open you can decide the year and create the events that occur is that what you mean by fictional scenarios.

Honestly i dont think KOEI is planning to work on this line anymore. Its been four years already and no news of it coming out. We might just have to get another company making this game! And if they do make one, then gameplay is more important than graphics, I myself having played all the series, enjoy rtk4, 6 and 10. In fact im still playing rtk4 with my friends these days.

On another note, for three kingdoms fans, theres a lot of ppl playing sangousha (card game) these days. And there is also a market for a risk/axis and allies like boardgame with three kingdoms theme.

I really hope Koei does do something with RTK12. I am gonna love me some Gears 3 in the future, maybe Halo Reach, and definitely dragon age origins 2 when it comes out next year. But i'll be sad if I don't get a new RTK, I really love most Koei games and i'll probably buy DW7 if they make it, but I like the more roleplaying and strategy combination of RTK.
